With its research teams based at the Nice-Sophia Antipolis, Montpellier, Bologna and Athens sites, the Inria Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée research centre is a major player in the field of digital science and technology deliberately oriented towards the European Research Area - in particular the European Research Council (ERC) - but also towards the development of the territory with its academic and industrial partners.

The centre in brief...

Inria established itself on the Sophia Antipolis site in 1981, when the new science park was still in the early stages, with many more facilities still to be built. In a few years, it became one of the leading players of this science park.
