Florian Dufour is the Director of the Information Systems Department at Inria. He took over from Marie-Christine Plançon, having previously been in charge of the scientific information system.

Working in close collaboration with the IT departments of each Inria centre, the Information System Department (DSI) is responsible for the implementation and through-life support of the digital services and computing tools used by researchers and support services.

Florian Dufour graduated from the Ensimag engineering school in 2001, where he specialised in software engineering, and has had a longstanding interest in research. It was only natural for this training engineer to start his professional career at Inria, where he joined the Scientific E-Information and Multimedia Services (SEISM) team as a website and applications developer, before going on to become Assistant Manager in 2006, and then Manager in 2015.

At the same time, he obtained a Master’s degree in “Executive Management of Information Systems” from the Grenoble School of Management in 2008. Driven by a keen interest in digital technology and training, he became actively involved in the scientific culture network and, in 2014, received the Inria Award for Research Support for theFrance Université Numérique (FUN) project. He was appointed Director of the Information Systems Department at Inria on 1 September 2016.

Florian firmly believes that agility and responsiveness are essential for Inria’s success, and works to promote collective action, a cross-organisational view of the information system, and new uses to provide Inria’s specialist areas with the best possible service.
