Christine Guillemot, research director at the Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique research centre, has just been awarded a European Research Council Advanced Grant. The goal of the programme is to provide talented researchers with the means to conduct a ground-breaking, high-risk five-year exploratory research project in Europe independent of an established scientific programme or national or disciplinary scientific development strategy.

Christine Guillemot is the SIROCCO research team leader at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique.  Her interests include the design of algorithms in the areas of analysis, modelling, representation, compression and communication of visual data (images and 2D and 3D videos) for applications in areas such as 3D television, multi-camera sensor networks and satellite and medical imaging.

She completed her PhD at the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST) in Paris. From 1985 until 1997, she worked at France Telecom/Centre National d’Etudes des Télécommunications, where she was involved in a range of projects in television programming, HDTV and multimedia applications. Christine Guillemot also worked at Bellcore (USA) as a guest researcher from 1990 to 1991.
