How to reach the Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique research centre

As part of the measures to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus, from 16 March and until further notice, access to the site is strictly limited to persons with special authorization.

 

For practical purposes, all visitors to the Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique research centre must present their identification to the receptionists.

How to reach the Inria Rennes

By car :

  • From Paris: By expressway, take the exit signed for "Rennes-Centre", then follow the signs for "Campus de Beaulieu". The university campus is on the right as you approach the city.
  • From Rennes city centre: Take the road alongside the river, in the direction of "Cesson-Sévigné / Laval". The campus is on the left after a few kilometres.
  • On the Beaulieu campus: The Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique centre is in the first building to the left of the university's main reception area.

By train

Rennes is connected by TGV (high-speed train) to Paris, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nancy and Strasbourg

For example, here are the numbers of round trips on an ordinary day:

  • 20 Paris-Rennes TGV (min. trip time: 2hrs03mins, departures every half hour during peak periods, and every hour at other times)
  • 3 TGV Roissy CdG airport-Rennes (2hrs58mins)
  • 3 TGV Lille-Rennes (3hrs45mins)
  •  2 TGV Lyon-Rennes (4hrs25mins)  

To reach the Inria Rennes centre by bus

  • Take the Nord exit, walk up avenue J. Janvier to Vilaine.
  • Turn left (Quai E. Zola): the stop for the no. 6, 4, or 40ex bus is after 20 metres, right next to the Musée de Bretagne and the Musée des Beaux-Arts ("Pasteur/Musée" stop).
  • Or if you do not want to walk: at the train station, take the metro line A towards "J.F. Kennedy", get off at the "République" stop.
  • Take bus 6, 4, or 40ex. Get off at the "Tournebride" stop

Bus route information

  • Number 6: buses depart every 10 to 20 minutes depending on the periods, trip time: approx. 10 min
  • Number 4: buses depart every 7 to 10 minutes, trip time: approx. 10 min
  • Number 40ex ("express"): buses depart every 6 to 12 minutes, peak hours only, trip time: approx. 7 min.
  • Number 41ex connects the train station directly to the Beaulieu campus during the week, with schedules matching the regional train arrivals (trip time: approx. 12 min).
  • Departing from the train station (place de la gare, "Nord" exit): 7:35 am, 7:45 am, 8:10 am, and 8:35 am.
  • Return to the train station (Tournebride stop): 4:09 pm, 4:44 pm, 5:14 pm, 5:44 pm, 6:14 pm, and 6:44 pm.
  • Number 30 connects the Villejean campus with the Beaulieu campus ("Restaurant universitaire" stop)

By plane

The Rennes Saint-Jacques airport has connections to 22 French and European cities on a daily basis.

To reach the Inria Rennes centre by bus from the airport:

  • Bus no. 57 connects St-Jacques to the centre of Rennes during the day (from 6:15 am to 8:30 pm). The "Pommerais" or "Abbé Grimault" stops are around 400 metres from the airport in the village of St-Jacques: buses depart every 10 to 15 minutes, trip time: a little less than 20 min. Change at "République" for bus no. 6, 4, or 40ex. Get off at the "Tournebride" stop.
  • Number 6: buses depart every 10 to 20 minutes depending on the periods, trip time: approx. 10 min
  • Number 4: buses depart every 7 to 10 minutes, trip time: approx. 10 min
  • Number 40ex ("express"): buses depart every 6 to 12 minutes, peak hours only, trip time: approx. 7 min.
  • Number 33b connects St-Jacques directly to the Beaulieu campus through the southern neighbourhoods of Rennes; get on at the "Pommerais" or "Abbé Grimault" stops, get off at "Restau. U.", then cross the campus by foot.

Practical info:

  • Taking a taxi from the airport to the Inria Rennes centre costs around €20 during the day.
  • Price of a single bus fare: €1.50.
