Team presentation

In various scientific or technical domains, the important flow of experimental data leads to the design and the management of large knowledge bases, to support experience reuse or discovery processes. Four categories of knowledge can be identified : descriptive knowledge on the entities of the domains ; behavioral knowledge on the dynamic behavior of these entities ; methodological knowledge on the methods which can be used to identify these entities and to complete their descriptions ; terminological knowledge on the relationships between the names used in the knowledge base and the terms used in the domain.

Research themes

  • Object-based knowledge modeling. Multiple viewpoints on objects and classification mechanisms.
  • Knowledge servers. Incremental and co-operative building of knowledge bases. Knowledge and model revision. Constraint-based modeling. Task modeling and co-operative problem solving. Corporate memory. Computer-assisted medical diagnosis. Large knowledge bases for genomics.

International and industrial relations

  • Collaborations with «laboratoire de biométrie, génétique et biologie des populations» at university Claude Bernard in Lyon, «unité de régulation génétique» of «Institut Pasteur» in Paris, «Atelier de Bio-Informatique (ABI, Paris 6)» and «Laboratoire de Génétique et Physiologie du Développement» in Marseille.
  • Participation to the projects GENIE 2 (Dassault Aviation et Aérospatiale) et PROSPER (CNRS) with Dassault Systems.
  • Participation to the European EMG-NET project for electromyographic diagnosis.
