Team presentation

The Pumas team has activities in modelling and numerical simulations of fluid models used in plasma physics and in the study of fluid turbulence. One of the main objectives of the team is to contribute to the understanding of controlled fusion. Pumas is an interdisciplinary team composed of applied mathematicians and computer scientists specialized in high performance computing with a strong interaction with plasma physicists.

Research themes

  • Derivation and analysis of fluid models applied to plasma physics and fluid turbulence
  • Production of high order finite element/finite volume methods adapted to complex geometries
  • Construction of scalable parallel solvers for large algebraic systems

International and industrial relations

  • Member of the common laboratory CEA-University of Nice-CNRS on controlled fusion
  • Member of the research federation on magnetic fusion
  • Collaboration with CWI, Amsterdam, the universities of Pisa, Stanford, Texas A & M, the institute of Mathematical modelling, Moscow, the Academia Sinica, and National Chi Nan , Chung Hua and NTU Universities, Tawain
  • Collaboration with the research institute on Magnetic Fusion (IRFM), CEA, Cadarache.
