InnoLife's proposal selected by European Institute of Innovation and Technology

EIT Health

Healthy living and active aging: the "EIT Health" KIC (knowledge and innovation community)/InnoLife was selected following a call for proposals by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Paris, December 11, 2014.– The InnoLife consortium, composed of 144 European companies, research organizations and universities, has been selected by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to form the EIT Health community. With a total of €2.7 billion for all KIC communities, this is one of the most significant public health initiatives in the world. EIT Health includes six co-location centers in Barcelona (Spain), Heidelberg (Germany), London (UK/Ireland), Paris (France), Rotterdam (Belgium-Netherlands) and Stockholm (Scandinavia). The InnoStars concept extends participation to partners in Croatia, Hungary, Wales, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia.

The goal is to meet the demographic challenges in Europe and promote longevity in the best conditions. InnoLife consists of a consortium of leading European players from industry, education, innovation, research, healthcare, medical technology and insurance with the objective of rapidly improving access to the market of innovative products for healthy aging and independence.

The main partners of EIT Health in France are Air Liquide Santé International, Becton-Dickinson France SAS (BD), Bull SAS, French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), Institut Mérieux, French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm), Inria , Sanofi-Aventis R&D and Sanofi-Aventis France, Groupe SEB, Sorin CRM SAS, Université Joseph Fourier (UJF) and Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC).

The French EIT Health center brings together numerous leaders in the domains of health and aging, both economic and education/research players, with a concentration of activity in the Ile-de-France and Rhône-Alpes areas. This partnership has been built around excellence, complementarity and integration. Once the EIT framework-agreement has been signed, EIT Health will get started in early 2015, eventually benefitting from €80 million per yearfor training, innovation and industry projects.
