In April 2014, INRIA and Alstom signed a partnership agreement covering digital technologies applied to the energy and public transport sectors. The agreement will have an initial duration of five years. The partnership agreement provides for the establishment of a shared laboratory specialising in distributed systems, modelling and simulation.
Economic and scientific challenges
With the establishment of this partnership and shared laboratory, INRIA will provide Alstom with scientific expertise in order to overcome technological barriers and extend the use of digital techniques to the processes and services that Alstom wishes to offer in future energy and transportation markets.
- The performance of data networks in the transportation sector.
- Policies for regulating urban railway systems.
- The design of robust collaborative instrumentation and control algorithms and reconfigurable architectures for hydroelectric power plants.
- Simulating the availability of complex systems for the transportation and thermal energy sectors.
