Sylvain Petitjean, Director of the Nancy-Grand Est research centre

Sylvain Petitjean has been nominated director of the Nancy-Grand Est research centre.
As a graduate of the Nancy École Nationale Supérieure des Mines with a doctorate in computer sciences Sylvain Petitjean began his career with the French National Centre for Scientific Research as a junior research scientist. He has been Director of research at Inria since 2007 and permanent manager of the Vegas project team, he is a specialist in surface and curve geometry and geometric calculation and algebra. He is the acclaimed author of internationally recognised work in his research area. Over the years he has increasingly invested himself in research leadership and management roles. In this way he has been a member of the board of managers at the Nancy-Grand Est Inria centre since 2008 and became Head of Science, overseeing the development and the creation of new teams in 2009
