Peter Sturm, Deputy Scientific Director

Peter Sturm did his undergraduate studies at the University of Karlsruhe and obtained a PhD in 1997 and the habilitation degree in 2006, both from Grenoble INP. From 1997 to 1999 he was a post-doc at Reading University and since 1999 he is a researcher at Inria. He was nominated Deputy scientific director in charge of the research in "Perception, cognition, interaction" in april 2015.
Peter Sturm was Program Co-Chair of ICCV 2011 and RFIA 2012 and Organization Co-Chair of ECCV 2008, as well as Area Chair for the major computer vision conferences and Associate Editor for several journals.He was director of the Geometry and Images Department of the Jean Kuntzmann Lab and president of the scientific recruitment committee of Inria Grenoble Rhône-Alpes and of the working group on Incentive Actions of Inria.In computer vision, his main research topics have been related to camera (self-)calibration, 3D reconstruction and motion estimation, both for perspective cameras and omnidirectional sensors. Since 2011, Peter is working towards contributing to sustainable development in general, and on the use of integrated land-use and transportation models for urban areas, in particular.
He was nominated Deputy scientific director in charge of the research in "Perception, cognition, interaction" the 9th April 2015.
