Deputy scientific directors
Jean Roman was appointed Deputy Scientific Director of the Research Department with responsibility for Applied Mathematics, Computing, and Simulation in January 2011. He devotes a portion of his working activity to duties including research coordination, foresight, and scientific leadership of one or more research topics in his field of expertise. He is also in charge of a cross-disciplinary mission concerning Inria's national and international actions in high-performance computing.
Didier Rémy is Deputy Scientific Director in charge of research in Algorithmics, Programming, Software and Architecture.
This field is at the core of programming and computer systems. Technology developments,such as the development of multicore processors and pervasive computing, raise new scientific challenges for experts in algorithms, languages and software architectures. Their common goal is to achieve control over the reliability and security of programs and data exchanges.
Peter Sturm did his undergraduate studies at the University of Karlsruhe and obtained a PhD in 1997 and the habilitation degree in 2006, both from Grenoble INP. From 1997 to 1999 he was a post-doc at Reading University and since 1999 he is a researcher at Inria. He was nominated Deputy scientific director in charge of the research in "Perception, cognition, interaction" in april 2015.
