Paul-Louis George : Inria - Dassault Systèmes 2012 Innovation Award winner

Françoise Breton -

Team leader of the Gamma3 project team (Inria, Troyes University of Technology), Paul Louis George is one of the inventors of the GHS3D volume mesh, a software used throughout the world by players in the industry, researchers and academics. Integrated in several software for 3D calculations by finished elements, GHS3D helps obtain simulations which are particularly reliable and high performing. A success based on teamwork undertaken over the long term and which is now being rewarded with the innovation award.

Marie-Agnès Enard, Frédéric Carette and Sylvain Karpf : Inria Research Support Department Award 2012

Marie-Agnès Enard, Frédéric Carette and Sylvain Karpf are three Inria award winners of the 2012 Inria Research Support Department Award.  This award rewards the action that they led with their teams for the realisation and implementation of the Inria-EuraTechnologies platform in Lille. Inaugurated in February, 2010, this first Inria space devoted to demonstrations and discussions with our economic partners accompanies a new approach as part of the transfer and innovation policy of the institute.

Young researcher Inria award: Francis Bach

Isabelle Bellin -

A trained mathematician, Francis Bach has become an internationally acknowledged specialist in the field of statistical machine learning. A field he has been boldly exploring for some ten years now. His research at the interface between applied mathematics, statistics, and computer science finds applications in an impressive variety of domains, such as artificial vision, processing of audio signals, bioinformatics, and cerebral imaging.

Inria Awards 2012

David Margery: Support for Research and Innovation Award 2012

Isabelle Bellin -

David Margery has worked at the Experimentation and Development Department (SED) of Inria’s Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique centre for eight years. He has been the Technical Director of the GRID’5000 platform for four years. He is the equipment and software architect for this exemplary experimentation platform. This award is a token of Inria’s appreciation, and of that of the entire French distributed computing community, for this outstanding engineer’s technical, scientific and human qualities.

The scientific influence of Pierre-Louis Lions, an exceptionally gifted and active mathematician, covers the worlds of academe, industry and commerce. For 30 years, he has generated highly original ideas in numerous domains such as mathematics, physics, economics, and industrial digital simulation. His theories have been adopted by many scientists, both theoretical and applied mathematicians.
