Are you a researcher or PhD researcher and interested in working on stimulating projects in an international, innovative and interdisciplinary environment? Through its flexible project-team model, Inria promotes innovation through collaborative research and the creation of start-ups while providing close support. Join us!
Inria is an institute of scientific excellence for technology transfer and society. It promotes the development of partnerships with SMEs, large industrial groups and world-renowned universities. With exchange programmes and assignments in universities abroad, prestigious partnerships, joint laboratories, international chairs and major conferences, Inria’s international development takes many forms and guarantees that research work has a real impact on the international, scientific and industrial stage. And what if joining us meant building the future?
Throughout the year, Inria offers permanent positions through competitive examinations or transfers between public agencies, as well as fixed-term contracts, most often corresponding with the length of the related partnership.
Become a contract researcher
Seize the opportunity to pursue a career path in line with your personal aspirations, in a first-rate research environment with excellent working conditions.
PhD researchers and post-doctoral researchers
- While preparing their thesis, PhD researchers acquire and develop transferable knowledge that is recognised in academic and industrial spheres thanks to personalised support. PhDs are both the final stage of the university career and the first stage of professional life.
- By conducting post-doctoral work, researchers develop their knowledge and complete their training. As part of a research team, post-doctoral researchers acquire the skills of highly qualified researchers in the field of computer science. They can benefit from the close ties between Inria and its international and industrial partner institutions. Post-doctoral work is an important first step in the professional career of scientists.
Starting and Advanced Research Positions
Each year, as part of a national recruitment campaign involving a selection process by a jury, Inria recruits highly qualified researchers on fixed-term contracts for Starting Research Positions and Advanced Research Positions. These research positions are an opportunity to add a new dimension to your career; to put your skills and expertise to use as part of a research project.
Become a civil servant researcher
As a public research institute, Inria mainly recruits its permanent staff through competitive examinations for civil servant recruitments (French state employees). There are no longer any requirements concerning nationality to become a researcher at the Institute. The status of civil servant allows you to reconcile job stability with opportunities for progression within Inria and temporary mobility (assignments, secondments, leave of absence, sabbaticals, etc.). In addition to their research work, researchers within their teams may contribute to European framework programmes and international cooperation or technology transfer partnerships. They will also benefit from opportunities to disseminate new knowledge more widely by partnering with universities or through MOOCs and digital culture programmes.
Inria recruits both researchers (R2-R3) and senior researchers (DR). These recruitments are carried out as part of the competitive examination campaign organised in January each year. The examination terms and timetable are posted on Inria’s website.
