The "Associate Teams" programme
The Associate Teams are a vital element in the institute's scientific and international policy. This programme is therefore one of Inria's key tools in order to promote and strengthen its partnerships abroad. It aims to consolidate the scientific potential of the teams through the development of partnerships between Inria project teams and high-level research teams from the world over. In order to support such partnerships, each year Inria launches a call for projects.
The "Associate Teams" programme supports scientific collaboration projects between Inria project teams and high-level research teams from the world over. Inria has been supporting these partnerships since 2002, and each year over sixty teams are in operation.
As part of this programme, a call for the creation of new Associate Teams is launched on an annual basis. Its regional or thematic priorities reflect the institute's international strategy in order to fix its research presence both internationally and on a European level, and to develop strong partnerships with certain countries. The programme focuses on a joint research project and supports the mobility of confirmed researchers, engineers, post-docs, PhD students and interns involved in the team in France and the partner country. Workshops and working groups around this joint research are also organised.
An Associate Team has a lifespan of three years, which can be renewed for a further three-year period, and the partner organisation must provide co-funding.
