Computational design and fabRicAtion of FuncTional artefacts

The CRAFT team addresses the design and modeling of deformable objects whose function relates to their geometry and their mechanics. Our goal is to provide efficient and intuitive tools to the users to help them create innovative objects with custom target properties. We work simultaneously on the design tool interfaces, the materials used for fabrication, and the algorithms for solving the relevant inverse problems, leveraging the geometry and mechanics of the structures to be designed."

Our research is transdisciplinary and combines computer graphics, mechanics, applied mathematics and human-computer interaction. Applications are very diverse and relevant to the fields of architecture, engineering, garment manufacturing, robotics, medicine, and art.
