Gestural interaction and virtual sales tools

New man/machine interfaces (particularly "gestural" interfaces) and virtual worlds are growing fields of applications. Here we show that such technological environments can be considered for sales in the not-too-distant future. We offer a tool controlled by gestures, allowing customers to browse and interact within a virtual 3D retail space. The presented prototype offers a vision of online sales that goes beyond the methods currently used, while putting forward numerous motivating issues for research. In all likelihood, this class of tool will see substantial growth.

UbiPost: a service for the integrity and safe distribution of packages

The sending, transport, and receipt of postal packages are complex, costly procedures in case of disputes by one of the parties. Our system makes it possible to ensure the integrity of the contents of a package as well as a secure, automatic transfer of responsibility among senders, transporters, and recipients.

Colivad: modeling and optimization of the logistics chain

The global logistics chain involves the optimization of flows at all stages of the Supplier/Customer chain: production, procurement, storage, distribution. Our team focuses on the optimization methods applied to the logistics chain at both the operational and strategic level. In the COLIVAD project, we have developed an optimization tool for package delivery that takes into account the resources specific to the company and its subcontractors.

Touch stimulator

Interaction between a machine and a person is permitted through the illusion of touching a complex surface with a range of textural properties. This sensation is made possible through variation in the substrate's friction coefficient, obtained by using ultrasonic vibrations of a few micrometers. These stimulators offer the possibility of designing the touchpads of tomorrow, which will make feeling different textures possible.

UbicityTM: the smart touch window

Ubicity™, the "smart window," is revolutionizing local communication by transforming an ordinary store window into an interactive touch screen that reacts as consumers pass it. The window recognizes and reacts intelligently to the actions of those who pass by. As individuals pass it, the window comes to life and invites them to strike up an interaction with the brand's interactive service. Alone or in a group, consumers will use their fingertips to perform further research in direct contact with the window.

Bigimbaz: large-scale image search

Bigimbaz is a search tool for collections of images. Users provide  it with a requested image, and it returns the most similar images from the collection, which can include millions of images. The API can be integrated into any software, particularly a web server, like in the demonstration program.

Integrated approach to developing ubiquitous applications

Many communicating objects (camera, telephone, computer, etc.) equip our spaces and form "ubiquitous environments." Omnipresent in many fields (building management, personal assistance, etc.), this team's objective is to design an integrated approach and tools dedicated to the development and simulation of ubiquitous applications.

Icom: Efficient in-store inventory

As part of the ICOM project (Infrastructure for COMmerce of the future), learn how RFID technology provides an efficient solution for conducting an in-store inventory. In a superstore setting, items on the shelves have an RFID tag. An inventory of these objects can then be conducted with a portable RFID reader. You will learn how the ICOM platform detects, identifies, and collects the information then validates it before sending it to heterogeneous applications.

Ubi-Board: a personalized information diffusion system

The information diffusion system is a device allowing personalized contextual information to be provided based on the user's location and profile. Users simply access the service by presenting their RFID badge or barcode to the system. They then receive the corresponding information spontaneously, either on a display or directly on their mobile phone. Founded in July 2008, SenseYou designs and implements innovative services based on interactions between objects and people, making intelligent environments possible.
