Therapixel, a start-up based on Inria research, offers a device that can be used to view data and images without touching a screen or keyboard. This solution is eagerly awaited by surgeons, who cannot afford to make the slightest contact with unsterilised items in the operating theatre. We spoke to the company's Technical Director, Pierre Fillard, and its Chairman, Olivier Clatz.

Medical imaging with Therapixel: sweeping views

Therapixel aims to revolutionize surgery through touchless visual recognition. The Inria start-up won the 2013 Creation–Development Prize of the Concours national d'aide à la création d'entreprises de technologies innovantes (French national competition for assistance in the creation of innovative businesses and technologies). Co-founder Pierre Fillard talks to us about the birth of Therapixel, a few months before market release of its innovative product.

A new era for the Inria Chile center

Inria Chile continues its development in South America. In recent years, with Claude Puech at the helm, she has strengthened her network of contacts and has set up partnerships with investment structures to accelerate the creation of strategies in Chile. Appointed on September 1st as Director, Nayat Sanchez Pi intends to pursue this strategy and implement an ambitious settlement project that includes opening to French partners, the revitalization of the transfer policy and the establishment of a sustainable economic model.

Hceres publishes Inria’s evaluation report

As part of Group E of the evaluation of French Higher Education and Research institutions (2018-2019), the High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) has just published its Inria evaluation report covering the period 2013-2017.
HCERES asked a panel of international experts chaired by Didier Roux (a member of the French Academy of Technologies) to carry out the evaluation.

Its crowd simulation plugin enables VFX virtuosi to populate stadiums and build massive armies on a budget. The software recently played a crucial backstage role in HBO's Game of Thrones.

With Antescofo, musicians never have to practise alone again

Set up in 2016 by three researchers from an Inria-Ircam*-CNRS team, Antescofo provides classical musicians with the opportunity to practise using an application that plays the orchestral accompaniment in high-quality sound and adjusts in real time to any errors they make. The start-up, supported by Inria, is backed by prestigious investors. It is planning a large-scale commercial launch at the end of 2019.

The algorithm making it easier to access local products

The start-up "Le Chemin des Mûres " has developed an intelligent transportation solution for the distribution of local farm produce. Its tailored software program calculates rounds that are optimised from start to finish, enabling growers to pool their deliveries together and to save both time and money while supporting the local economy. This tool, developed within Inria in collaboration with the Inocs * team, is part of a wider environmental strategy aimed at reducing the impact of transport at a global level.
