"Fact-checking" software for understanding the world in which we live

Ioana Manolescu, Research Director at Inria Saclay – Ile-de-France Research Centre, heads the OAK team, a joint team with Université Paris-Sud. She is currently working on a tool for deciphering content: "An application for rooting out the fibs told by politicians?" as headlined by the paper Ouest France in an article published on Thursday, 3 September 2015.

Here we take a look back at Ioana Manolescu's career and at how this ambitious project came into being.

#DRIM’ in Saclay is an initiative held in the Ile-de-France region aimed at promoting the values essential to the process of innovation, such as open-mindedness, collaboration, and interdisciplinary project development. Inria, which promotes "scientific excellence for technology transfer and society", shares these values and is partnering the event organised held to encourage closer links between academia and the world of industry.

Handling emergency calls: tropical geometry for emergency services in Paris

Paris Police Prefecture have undertaken ambitious reforms to their system for handling emergency calls made to 17, 18 or 112, both within the capital and its inner suburbs.

As part of this, they sought expert advice from Inria and the École Polytechnique for the project consolidation phase and subsequently to demonstrate the benefits.

RIOT: the “Linux” of the Internet of Things

Emmanuel Baccelli and Alexandre Abadie, members of the Inria team Infine will be giving a demonstration of the RIOT operating system at SIDO (Salon de l’internet des objets) on 10th and 11th April 2019. This open source operating system designed for the internet of things (IoT), which boasts an ever-growing community of users, saw the launch of its first commercial applications last year.
