Inria Awards 2013
Prizewinners Edith Corre, Michel Loyer, and Marie-Hélène Pautrat work in Inria's European Partnership Department. All three helped promote the European ideal at Inria and thereby increase the participation of our research teams in R & D and innovational projects financed by the European Commission.
European Research Council 2018
The Extreme-scale Mathematically-based Computational Chemistry (EMC2) project led by Eric Cancès, Laura Grigori, Yvon Maday and Jean-Philip Piquemal has won an ERC Synergy Grant in the context of the 2018 call for projects, and is one of the 27 winners announced on Tuesday, October 23 2018. The four EMC2 principal investigators explain the challenges of this very high-level research project.

We sometimes have to accept making detours in order to find a new, promising transfer opportunity. The spreadsheet verification project, winner of an ERC Proof of Concept grant from the European Research Council, is proof of this. Meeting with Xavier Rival, head of the Antique project team - where it all began.
The cross-disciplinary challenges are numerous, from development of digital cultural resources and usages, to the digital preservation, digitisation and dissemination of the cultural heritage, to musical and artistic production, to interactive visits of real or virtual museums and to promotion of the influence of French. The Ministry of Culture and Communication and Inria thus decided to sign a new partnership agreement to develop and enhance SemanticPedia, a collaborative venture created in 2012 around the “DBpédia in French” project.
European Research Council
Each year, the European Research Council rewards researchers proposing innovative ideas. This programme aims to encourage "research at the frontier of knowledge", whose sole selection criterion is excellence.
To mark the first SADCO summer school, we interview its coordinator, Hasnaa Zidani, from the Commands project team, which is developing this project focusing on optimal control. Hasnaa explains why she wants to train young researchers through this programme.
European Research Council 2016
Yanlei Diao, professor at the Ecole polytechnique and Télécom ParisTech, and member of Inria Saclay – Île-de-France research centre’s team Cedar, has been honoured with a 2016 ERC Consolidator Grant. This European grant rewards the scientific excellence of the researcher and her project, as well as her innovative vision in terms of "acceleration and optimisation of analytical computing for big data". It is the first distinction to concern a researcher who holds an excellence chair funded by the Université Paris-Saclay.
The European Commission and France have added the infrastructure project European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS) to their research infrastructures road map for 2016.
Launched as a consortium in March 2015, I-Support aims to design a robotics system to assist elderly people bathe independently. Nine research laboratories and companies are involved in the development of I-Support. The GALEN team at Inria Saclay - Île-de-France Research centre is working on the computer vision for the system.
Inria recently obtained the Human Resources – Excellence in Research label from the European Union, underlining the quality of its approach towards human resources for scientists. This label is an opportunity to highlight both Inria’s place in the European Research and Innovation Area and its commitment to improving its appeal to the scientific community.
