Anne-Marie Kermarrec : Inria - French Académie des sciences - Dassault Systèmes Innovation Award

After thirteen years heading up the ASAP project team at the Inria Centre in Rennes, Anne-Marie Kermarrec recently spread her wings to create her own start-up, Mediego. It is the economic outcome of two decades of research on large-scale distributed systems.

AI Strategy

AI for Humanity Plan


To make France a global leader in artificial intelligence, while reconciling ‘performance and humanity’: that was the ambitious goal set by the French President in March. The AI for Humanity strategy, developed on the basis of the report prepared by French Deputy Cédric Villani, relies extensively on research and innovation to spearhead the development of AI.  Inria will be coordinator of the research side of the plan.

Human-machine interaction in the service of well-being


Born from a collaboration with the Potioc project team, the start-up Ullo is currently preparing its flight to Las Vegas for CES 2019 with the delegation from New Aquitaine. The Roche-based start-up, which is developing new therapeutic approaches for the care of cognitive disorders, will present Inner Garden, an interactive sensory sandbox.

In Lille, Inria cultivates the start-up spirit !


The Inria Lille - Nord Europe centre's Technology Transfer, Innovation and Partnerships department (STIP) encourages the creation of start-ups by raising awareness among, and providing support to, scientists wishing to venture into entrepreneurship. Laurie Barbarin has been exclusively in charge of this mission since October 2017. Lille is the first Inria centre to have set up a post dedicated to this support.

Dilepix, laureate of the i-Lab 2018 competition

The i-Lab , a national competition for the creation of innovative technology companies created by the Ministry of Research just 20 years ago, announced on Thursday, July 5th the 64 winners of the 2018 edition. On of them: the start-up DILEPIX, issue and accompanied by Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique research centre.

XScalibur: the start-up facilitating multi-cloud management


Christophe Gourdin is a research and development engineer within the Inria Lille - Nord Europe center’s Spirals* project team. These last months, he has swapped his developer hat for that of a start-up project leader. XScalibur is expected to be launched in January 2019. It will offer businesses an innovative multi-cloud management platform.

In the 18th century, Angélique du Coudray laid the foundations of medical simulation by training 5,000 midwives using fabric models – and saving many lives in the process. Today, Stéphane Cotin has adopted the same approach, with resources at the cutting edge of research into numerical simulation.
