European Research Council 2015
Last spring Michel Beaudouin-Lafon, member of EX-SITU, a joint LRI and Inria Saclay Île-de-France centre team, received an ERC Advanced Grant for his ONE project. The aim of the project is to fundamentally rethink the basic principles and the conceptual model of interactive systems, in order to enable users to take ownership of their digital environment. The project begins on 1 October 2016 with the arrival to the team of a first PhD student. The project foresees the recruitment of five PhD students, two engineers and proposes six years of post-docs.
In partnership with Inria Saclay – Île-de-France research center, the mathematics Olympiad of Créteil Educational District awards ceremony has been held on Wednesday, May, 25th at Saint Exupéry high school in the presence of Béatrice Gille, education officer for the educational district of Créteil.
The Gamma3 project-team became part of Inria Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre on 1st, January, 2016. It works on the robustness and speed of the algorithms used to develop numerical simulation softwares that are known and recognised all over the world. Paul-Louis George, Gamma3 team leader, enthusiastically explained to us how his team works and how it continues to validate and distribute software all over the world.
Digital Technologies Award
The 18th ceremony of the Prix des Technologies Numériques was held on Tuesday 12 April at 6:30 p.m. at the French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs, sponsored and attended by Axelle Lemaire, Secretary of State for Digital Affairs. Safety Line was nominated for the digital innovation award for its joint work with the COMMANDS team from Inria Saclay - Île-de-France research centre.
PGMO (Programme Gaspard Monge pour l'Optimisation et la recherche Opérationnelle), a sponsorship programme created by EDF R&D and the FMJH (Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard), has been awarded the Grand Prix AEF for universities and businesses in the "research and innovation" category.
Yanlei Diao joined École Polytechnique in September 2015. Holder of an University Paris-Saclay IDEX Chair (supported by Inria, École Polytechnique and Télécom ParisTech), Yanlei will work with project-team CEDAR which succeeds project-team OAK, at Ioana Manolescu's side, research director at Inria Saclay - Île-de-France research center.
The SMIS project-team became part of Inria Saclay - Île-de-France research centre on 1 January 2016. It is a joint Inria - Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines team located on the Versailles campus and part of the Laboratoire DAVID. SMIS researches databases, database security and database mobility. Interview with Philippe Pucheral, who explained his team’s research.
Launched as a consortium in March 2015, I-Support aims to design a robotics system to assist elderly people bathe independently. Nine research laboratories and companies are involved in the development of I-Support. The GALEN team at Inria Saclay - Île-de-France Research centre is working on the computer vision for the system.
