10 years of Vekia: the success story of an Inria start-up

Just ten years ago, Manuel Davy, co-founder of the Sequel team from the Inria Lille - Nord Europe research centre, launched his start-up: Vekia At the time the small company, specialised in machine learning, proposed consulting services to the major retail groups in the Lille region. Today, Vekia is developing a supply chain solution for stock management. It employs approximately 50 people, works with around 20 major retail groups and, in 2017, raised 12 million Euros in order to expand.

A look back at Belgo - French Startup Weekend

Ten PhD students and engineers from the Inria Lille - Nord Europe centre took part in the Belgo-French Start-up Weekend which took place from 14-16 September 2018 at the CCI Grand Lille. This edition of the Start-up Weekend furthers Franco-Belgian relations by welcoming participants, jury members and companies from France and Belgium.  A wonderful collaboration to mark our relationship with Belgium. Students from École Centrale Lille and the EDHEC business school were also present.

Genomics analysis tools for university hospitals

Academic research has led to the development of many first-rate software applications for genome data processing. Enancio, a new start-up established out of the Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique research centre, is preparing to roll out a platform to facilitate the use and joint development of these applications. The service was created for hospital researchers and practitioners, particularly to help diagnose cancer.

An image analysis service for agriculture

Are the apricots ripe? Are insects threatening the squash? Have all the cows had their share of fodder? All questions that require the farmer or rancher to make rounds. The fruit of research into robotic vision at the Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique centre, one startup, Dilepix, is getting ready to offer an online image analysis service to automate monitoring and help save valuable time.
