Digit’Elles: the interweaving career paths of women in science

The Printemps de la Mixitéevent saw the Inria Bordeaux - Sud-Ouest research centre play host to 47 fifth year pupils on Tuesday 9th April as they sought to battle the gender stereotypes that continue to persist post exams. Organised by the “parity, equality and diversity” initiative, the University of Bordeaux, the Local Education Authority and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the purpose of this multi-day event was to enable pupils to discover the world of university and to give them some career guidance. Let’s take a closer look at the Digit’Ellesworkshop, which shows that it is not just men who are making a name for themselves in the world of digital science.

The story of a successful collaboration between Mieuxplacer and Inria

CP - 27/09/2019

With an academic background in applied mathematics, Matthieu Sénéchal co-founded the start-up Mieuxplacer three years ago, a platform which aims to democratise wealth management consulting through the development of recommendation algorithms. Although this young company, which employs around thirty or so people at its sites in Bordeaux and Paris, does carry out operational research, making technological developments on its own, on this occasion it sought assistance from the Inria Bordeaux - Sud-Ouest research centre. More specifically, it was the project team RealOpt, a joint undertaking involving the University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux INP and the CNRS, which assisted the company, helping to improve its existing tools and to offer users an effective solution.
