Inria and Cemagref pool their expertise in order better to understand the complexity of environmental phenomena

Michel Cosnard, Inria Chairman and CEO, and Roger Genet, CEO of Cemagref, have signed a partnership agreement strengthening collaboration between the two organisations on applied research projects concerning environmental problems. This agreement demonstrates the multi-disciplinary approach required of scientists faced with complex environmental problems. The synergies between environmental sciences and computational sciences will be a powerful lever to help meet the challenges posed by global changes and to ensure sustainable development.

Bull and Inria launch a strategic partnership to tackle the challenges of future exascale supercomputers

Michel Cosnard, Chairman and CEO of Inria (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control), and Philippe Vannier, Chairman and CEO of Bull, have signed a partnership agreement to carry out joint research in High-Performance Computing (HPC). The main aim of this partnership – between a leading research lab and one of the industry leaders in its field – is to help overcome the challenges posed by the coming generation of ‘exascale’ supercomputers. A roadmap has already been set out, enabling the teams involved to work together on supercomputer architecture, software environments and services.

Two years of InriaTech: technology transfer serving regional businesses

In its two years of existence, the InriaTech scheme that began in the Inria Lille - Nord Europe centre has already clocked up numerous successes. Its goal: to facilitate the balance between the results of the research carried out by the Inria project teams and the needs of the businesses. Contracts with SMEs, start-ups but also key accounts in the region - the approach is attracting an increasing number of companies.

Launch of the GENESIS project

On 1 May, the collaboration between the GeoStat project team, the Laboratory of Astrophysics of Bordeaux (university of Bordeaux / CNRS)and the Institute of Physics in Cologne/KOSMA group was made official. Called GENESIS: GENeration and Evolution of Structure in the InterStellar medium, the vocation of this French-German partnership is to understand the structure and evolution of the interstellar medium and, more specifically, the mechanism of star formation.

Creation of BART: a research collective dedicated to the Blockchain

Signed on 6 March 2018 in Paris, this framework agreement puts into effect the creation of the BART joint research initiative (Blockchain Advanced Research & Technologies): a first in France in the field of the Blockchain. Around 30 researchers from four institutions are pooling their expertise and research efforts in order to remove the scientific obstacles linked to this disruptive technology, under a common roadmap defined for a duration of six years.
