Suman Saha receives the William C. Carter Award


Suman Saha, who completed his PhD with the Regal project-team (a joint Inria-Lip6 team), has just received the William C. Carter Award, which recognises important dissertation research in the field of dependable computing. This 2013 award was particularly notable, given the large number of qualified nominees this year.

When machines learn to forget


The work of Daniele Calandriello, a doctoral candidate on the Project Sequel team at the Inria Lille - Nord Europe research center, has just received an award from the French Association for Artificial Intelligence (AFIA). He has developed a method by which machines retain only the essential elements of very big datasets in order to make them more independent.

European prize CNIL-Inria

Inria and the CNIL (the French data protection authority) have just launched a European prize to recognise scientific papers on the subject of data protection and privacy. Within the framework of the partnership agreement signed in 2011 between Inria and the CNIL, the prize will serve to promote research on data protection. It will raise awareness throughout the scientific community of the need to develop research projects related to these subjects.

L'Oréal - UNESCO Awards

Stéphanie Challita wins the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science award


Each year, the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program awards grants of €15,000 to female doctoral researchers and €20,000 to female post-doctoral researchers for their research work. This year, 30 female laureates were rewarded among 900 candidates and Stéphanie Challita is one of them. She completed her thesis in the Spirals* project team at the Inria Lille - Nord Europe research center.
