Inria and CERFACS create a joint laboratory to develop tools and methods dedicated to high-performance computing


The National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (Inria) and the European Centre for Research and Advanced Training in Scientific Computation (CERFACS) today announce the creation of a joint research laboratory to respond to the challenges of high-performance digital simulation.

GENCI, Inria and OSEO join forces to support SMEs in first-time access to high-performance computing


The "HPC-SME Initiative" is the name of the programme jointly launched by GENCI, Inria and OSEO in partnership with four global competitiveness clusters to facilitate and encourage access by SMEs to high-performance computing (HPC). Put together in compliance with the recommendations of the Digital France 2012 plan, this programme aims to support and increase the competitiveness of SMEs whose industrial innovation projects are liable to benefit from the use of high-performance computing. The core element of the initiative is long-term assistance provided with the aim of guaranteeing the effective integration of the growth capabilities afforded by HPC.

Bull and Inria launch a strategic partnership to tackle the challenges of future exascale supercomputers


Michel Cosnard, Chairman and CEO of Inria (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control), and Philippe Vannier, Chairman and CEO of Bull, have signed a partnership agreement to carry out joint research in High-Performance Computing (HPC). The main aim of this partnership – between a leading research lab and one of the industry leaders in its field – is to help overcome the challenges posed by the coming generation of ‘exascale’ supercomputers. A roadmap has already been set out, enabling the teams involved to work together on supercomputer architecture, software environments and services.

The Inria Bordeaux Sud-Ouest research centre has several project-teams that specialise in simulation, modelling, parallel programming and high performance computing. Intensive computing has become a factor of competitiveness for business. This computer-aided design, decision-making and control tool is indispensable in numerous fields of applications including aeronautics, coastal environments and geophysics.

AMDECC Project wins award at Teratec Forum

On Tuesday, 19 June, the AMDECC Project, launched 5 years ago through a partnership between Safran Tech, Inria Bordeaux – Sud-Ouest and the CORIA (UMR6614 CNRS Université de Rouen and INSA Rouen), received the Award for Best Collaborative Project, one of the Digital Simulation Trophies awarded by Teratec and Usine Digitale.
