Inria Awards 2014
Inria announces the Inria awards 2014 winners. Find out who are acknowledged this year for their major contributions to computer science and promising innovations for our society and the proper functioning of Inria. The winners of five Inria awards in 2014 will be honoured on 13 October, at an awards ceremony at the Forum des Images in Paris.
The 2013 Royal Society Milner Award winner Serge Abiteboul is invited to deliver a public lecture about his databases research on November 12th. The talk will take place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Royal Society's main offices. A live video will be available on the event webpage.

The objective of the DMSP project is to design and experiment a secure and portable social and medical folder. The demo will use tokens (manufactured by Inria) et Android tablets.
Cities, IoT and Analytics
Massive amounts of Linked Open Data, such as those being produced and exchanged in digital cities, require efficient data processing tools to cope with the scale. We demonstrate CliqueSquare, an open-source RDF query processor we developed on top of the Hadoop distributed computing system. CliqueSquare's advantage is to maximize parallelism when processing large join queries.

Inria Awards 2014
As a world-class specialist in distributed databases, Patrick Valduriez has directed three major Inria research projects and has found many applications for his discoveries. His major success has been the Kelkoo price comparison site, for which the source code was originally created at Inria and Bull. Patrick Valduriez’s solutions have been used in major database products. His university textbook serves as a reference work for students throughout the world. It’s the story of a knowledge broker.

Tova Milo is a full Professor of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University and, as of 2012, the head of the Computer Science department. Milo is the head of the data management group in Tel Aviv University, and her research focuses on Web data management. She received her PhD from the Hebrew University in 1992 under the supervision of Catriel Beeri, and was a postdoctoral fellow at theUniversity of Toronto and Inria, prior to joining Tel Aviv University.
