When image processing is used to measure the effects of a drug on the brain

A crucial issue in the search for new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases is to develop biomarkers that can measure their effects on the brain. In clinical tests, image processing software developed by the ARAMIS project team measured the effect of a drug on the volume of the hippocampus from MRI images.

ISCB has featured a new research Inria

The International Society for Computational Biology has featured its "research highlights" a new research published last november by two researchers of the team-project Inria ARAMIS  and the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle. The paper deals with filtering information in brain networks.

Inria is organising MICCAI 2012, the 15th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention, which takes place from the 1st to the 5th of October.

We spoke to Prof. Giovanni Frisoni, neurologist at IRCCS Fatebenefratelli in Italy, and Inria researcher Marco Lorenzi, both of whom are presenting a paper about brain image analysis for better diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
