Inria celebrated on June 13 the 25 years of the World Wide Web along with Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of this great tool. At a conference at Futur en Seine in Paris, Sir Tim outlined the challenges facing the Web for the next 25 years. He invited users worldwide to define "the Web We Want."
New digital publishing technologies
W3C France is organising a series of workshops dedicated to new web publishing technologies, the first of which will take place on 16-17 September at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. It will focus on the whole production workflow and on issues specifically related to the publication of printed documents on the web.

Jean-François Abramatic, President of W3C from 1996 to 2001, is currently adviser to INRIA’s Deputy Director General for Industrial Transfers and Partnerships. On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the W3C, the body responsible for standardisation of the Web, he reviews the history of W3C and the new challenges he is facing on behalf of the consortium.
