Worldwide digital experiment


On 4th November, children from Bordeaux and Nancy, with support from the Inria research centres, will participate in the R2T2 international mission, initiated by Professor Francesco Mondada from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Their task: to use their computer skills here on Earth to program robots to repair the generator of Mars Base R45, which has been damaged by a meteorite.

A meeting between Monique Thonnat, Director of the Centre, and Jérôme Laplace, Director of Generation Robots, to sign the distribution and brand licensing agreement for Poppy. The SME, a programmable robot specialist, will handle the distribution of the research team's latest creation

Poppy, the humanoïd robot meets François Hollande

On 11 June François Hollande, the French president, welcomed investors and entrepreneurs who will be forging the French economy of tomorrow. Among these visitors was Poppy, the open-source 3D-printed humanoid robot from Bordeaux.

The Human and the Digital: Art and Science Dance with Poppy the Humanoid Robot

From Monday, 24 February to Wednesday, 5 March 2014, the Chapel of Saintonge Secondary School in Bordeaux hosted Êtres et Numérique (The Human and the Digital), an art and science residency that staged a dance between a humanoid robot and a woman.  A repeat performance was given on Thursday, 13 March, at 5.45 p.m., to mark the opening of the school’s new platform.

RoboCup Junior: Poppy is on its way to Montreal

The Poppy robot - which was designed by Inria scientists and came to life within the FLOWERS project team - has, over time, become an invaluable assistant in the educational world, in its different forms: Poppy Humanoid , Poppy Torso , Poppy Ergo Junior , Handy ... At the beginning of May, two teams of students won the national final of RoboCup France thanks to Poppy Ergo Jr. and will be heading off to Montreal at the end of June for the world final.
