Inria Chairman and CEO Michel Cosnard has appointed Pascal Guitton as Research Director as of 1 October 2010.
On 6 December 2017, Aurélie Willi was appointed director of communication and reports to Inria's directorate-general. Her mission is to make Inria's initiatives and activities known to, and understood by, its different target audiences (internal, external and institutional). The communication department supports the international development of the institute and furthers its proximity with the innovation ecosystem and business creation.
David Simplot is director of the Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée research centre as of 1 January 2018.
François Sillion was appointed acting CEO on January 22. He succeeds Antoine Petit, who had been running the institute since 2014 and was appointed head of CNRS on 17 January. François Sillion was Inria's Deputy CEO for Science since 2014.

History of Inria
Born in 1960, Antoine Petit is an agrégé in mathematics, doctor of science and a specialist in formal methods. He is the author of some fifty scientific publications. Professor at ENS Cachan, he was CEO of Inria from 2014 to 2018.
Inria is evaluated every four years by an independent administrative authority, the High Council for Research and Higher Education (Hcérès), which publishes a report on each institution and research unit it evaluates.
