Pascale Vicat-Blanc, founder of the Lyatiss company, has recently received the lnria - French Académie des Sciences (Academy of Sciences) – Dassault Systèmes Innovation award. She sees in this personal honour a recognition for her team and her company – and an interest in young women that may be inspired by what she has accomplished. Conscious of being a sort of role model, she has campaigned for the European de-compartmentalisation of the spheres of research, business and investment.
The results of the twelfth national competition for assistance in the creation of innovative businesses and technologies, launched at the end of 2009, have been announced. Valérie Pécresse, the French Minister for Higher Education and Research, met with the successful candidates last Wednesday for a day of information and guidance. The list of 2010 prize-winners features five businesses built on Inria’s research work.

After a thesis on robot control software systems, Pascale Vicat-Blanc became a lecturer at Centrale-Lyon engineering school, then a research director at Inria. The recognition in the university setting wasn’t enough... so the founder of Lyatiss packed her bags in 2010 and headed for Silicon Valley to create her company and revolutionize the Cloud.
