Fields of research
Peter Sturm is the Deputy Scientific Director in charge of the field "Perception, Cognition and Interaction".
The human and his interactions with the digital world are at the heart of the work of the Inria Bordeaux Sud-Ouest research centre. The teams are attempting to solve complex issues in robotics, hybrid instrumentation, optics and digital science, 3D interaction methods and digital systems for home care. Some of the projects developed by the teams become reality in startups or educational or cultural programmes.
European Research Council 2017
A step forward for the development and commercialisation of intelligent robots capable of multimodal and multiple communication with humans.
Peter Sturm did his undergraduate studies at the University of Karlsruhe and obtained a PhD in 1997 and the habilitation degree in 2006, both from Grenoble INP. From 1997 to 1999 he was a post-doc at Reading University and since 1999 he is a researcher at Inria. He was nominated Deputy scientific director in charge of the research in "Perception, cognition, interaction" in april 2015.
