This year, Inria will again be a partner of the Paris Open Source Summit , the biggest event in Europe for open source, free software, and open digital technology. With our involvement and commitment to free software and open science, the institute considers open source to be an important vehicle for transferring scientific research to the socio-economic world, but also an essential support tool for access to training and open science.
InriaSoft aims for the durable development of large-scale software programs by bringing together their user communities within consortia that will finance a team of engineers tasked with their maintenance and evolution. The InriaSoft headquarters are based in Rennes, as Claude Labit, director, and David Margery, technical director of this national action backed by the Fondation Inria, explain.
Born at Inria research center, in Rennes, Brittany, France, over a decade ago, OpenViBE is one of the world's leading software platforms for processing EEG signals, designing Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) and conducting research in real-time neuroscience. As the tool has gained maturity and now caters to a vast community of users, Inria plans to open its management to external parties through a non-profit consortium. The move will enable to pool resources, fund dedicated engineering staff and thus guarantee OpenViBE's viability in the long haul.
