Geostat team - Fête de la science
"From the infinitely large to the infinitely small" was the theme of the 2013 Fête de la Science (9-13 October). The event provided an opportunity to share the advances made by the centre's Geostat research team in its work on signal processing. The team has been working with Toulouse-based spatial oceanography and geophysics laboratory LEGOS (Laboratoire d’Etudes en Géophysique et océanographies spatiales) for several years now, and has now been able to put together in one film a year's worth of satellite oceanography images (which you can see a little further down the page).
Ayoub Tamim, former PhD student from the Geostat project team, receives the 2017 Hubert Curien Thesis Award gold medal for the quality of the work carried out in his thesis entitled "Segmentation and classification of satellite images: application to the detection of Moroccan coastal upwelling zones and implementation of a spatio-temporal monitoring software program".
