Evaluation of perceived quality

How can you determine, in real time, whether the video or sound experienced by users is good or bad quality without asking them? In Rennes, research conducted by Inria makes it possible to automate the measurement of this perception. This innovation has an immediate application in the telecoms sector, where the start-up Perceptiva Lab will market services incorporating this technology.

DIONYSOS - IEEE 1588-based network load estimation and its applications

We present a network load estimation service, which builds upon a measurement-driven learning methodology modelling the delay behavior of the Precision Time Protocol (PTPv2/IEEE 1588-2008) in the presence of varying traffic workloads. As a use case, we demonstrate how this service can be utilized for load-aware video delivery using Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) technologies.
