The 40th annual international conference dedicated to digital imaging, SIGGRAPH 2013, will take place from 21 to 25 July in Anaheim, California, giving Inria’s nine research teams—Alice, Bipop, Geometrica, Hybrid, Imagine, Manao, Maverick, Reves, and Titane—the opportunity to present their research and advances in the field.

Marie-Paule Cani has been appointed Chair of IT and Digital Sciences at the Collège de France for 2015. The inaugural lecture will be held on 12 February 2015 and will focus on the theme “Shaping the imagination - from 3D Digital Design to Animated Virtual Worlds”.

Colloquium Tony DeRose


In this talk, Tony DeRose will survey a number of current and recent projects underway in the Research Group at Pixar. To set context for the discussion he'll begin with a brief overview of their production pipeline. He'll also discuss how they approach research at Pixar, including how they pick problems, what they look for when they consider the adoption of external research, and how they transfer technology to the rest of the studio.

Inria–TNS Sofres Survey 2014


Inria is publishing the results for the 2nd edition of its survey, conducted by TNS Sofres. This major survey* was initiated in order to find out how the French relate to the digital world. The results reveal increasing consumption of digital products, and increasing awareness amongst the French of the issues raised by this increase.

Enhanced collaboration with NVIDIA


As an "NVIDIA GPU Research Center" since August 2015, INRIA Grenoble Rhône-Alpes reinforces its collaboration with NVIDIA, the inventor of the GPU, to develop its research in computer vision, deep learning, embedded perception, and graphics.

Marie-Paule Cani wishes to make 3D virtual creation available to all

Thanks to the Advanced Grant awarded to her by the European Research Council (ERC), aimed at experienced researchers, Marie-Paule Cani, a university professor at the INP Grenoble, will finance five years of research into the design of animated virtual shapes within the framework of her IMAGINE team, shared with Inria Grenoble and with the Jean Kuntzmann laboratory (CNRS and Universities of Grenoble). She hopes to make the digital tool as intuitive as simply using pen and paper, and much more efficient.

Marie–Paule Cani, Eurographics Award 2011

Marie-Paule Cani has just won the Eurographics Outstanding Technical Contributions Award. This internationally recognized distinction rewards her work in implicit modelling, animation and interactive shape design. Marie-Paule Cani, a university professor in Grenoble, leads the EVASION team, a joint Inria Grenoble and Jean Kuntzmann laboratory team, which is affiliated with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the universities of Grenoble.

Interfaces Symposium

Interfaces welcomes Gianluca Iaccarino


"Interfaces", Aquitaine scientific symposium for digital sciences. This serie of talks will host several times a year, scientists from entire world, recognized for the quality of their work and the results they produce. Topics will treat about computer sciences and applied mathematics but mostly about their intersections with others sciences and fields. Medicine, Social sciences and humanities, art, etc. are such topics that are addressed.
