The purpose of the ATHENA project-team, created in July 2010, is to explore the central nervous system (CNS, brain and spinal cord) using computational imaging and the support of two major categories of methods: diffusion MRI (dMRI) and magneto-electroencephalography (MEEG). This team is led by Rachid Deriche.
Emmanuel Caruyer worked his thesis while working as part of the Athena project team directed by Rachid Deriche, at the Inria research centre at Sophia Antipolis – Méditerranée. He will receive the ATRIF (French Association for the Recognition and Interpretation of Forms) 2013 prize during the RFIA (Recognition of Form and Artificial Intelligence) conference to be held from June 30th to July 4th in Rouan.

Rachid Deriche, director of research and head of the project team "Athena" from Research Center Inria Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée, has received the title of Honorary Doctor (honoris causa) from the University of Sherbrooke. The title was awarded at the academic certificates conferment ceremony held on September 20 at the University of Sherbrooke.
Maureen Clerc, a researcher in the Athena project team at Inria, has been awarded the Pierre Faurre* Prize by the French Academy of Sciences in recognition of her work on the modelling and interpretation of electrical signals in the brain.
