Maintaining the dignity and autonomy of the elderly is at stake, therefore opening research  perspectives of interest for Inria Project Teams (IPT). In order to promote this theme and to coordinate the involved activity researches amongst Inria institute, a Large Scale Initiative Action gathers nine projects team from Nancy, Grenoble, Sophia Antipolis and Rennes in one cross-entity named PAL (Personally Assisted Living)

Nicholas Ayache newly appointed professor at the Collège de France

Nicholas Ayache is the newly appointed professor on the Chair in Informatics and Computational Sciences at the Collège de France for the year 2013-2014. He is a world-renowned specialist in the analysis and simulation of digital medical images.

Created in 2009 by the Collège de France and Inria, the aim of the "Computing and computational sciences" chair is to promote computer science and applied mathematics.

Therapixel improves breast cancer detection

Specialising in Artificial Intelligence applied to medical imaging, Therapixel, an Inria spin-off based in Sophia Antipolis, has just raised 5 million euros in a Series A round (optimisation phase) in order to develop its artificial intelligence system used to help diagnose breast cancer.
