Meshing, geometric modelling and numerical simulation by Paul Louis George and Houman Borouchaki of the Gamma3 team
The first volume of a series of books, entitled "Meshing, Geometric Modeling and Numerical Simulation 1: Form Functions, Triangulations and Geometric Modeling", co-authored by Paul Louis George and Houman Borouchaki of the GAMMA3 team, has just been published by Wiley.
Triangulations, and more precisely grids, are at the heart of many problems relating to a wide variety of scientific disciplines, and in particular to numerical simulations of all types of physical phenomena.
In numerical simulations, the approximation functional spaces used to search for solutions are defined from meshes and, in this sense, these meshes play a fundamental role. This strong link between meshes and functional spaces leads us to consider advanced simulation methods in which meshes are adapted to the behaviour of underlying physical phenomena.
This book presents the basic elements of this mesh vision.
