Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique has a set of three experimental platforms for robotics: a technology resource giving rise to national and international collaborations.
The collection of hardware and software resources of these three experimental platforms makes it possible to validate and make use of the centre's research activities in the fields of industrial, medical and mobile robotics, visual servoing, active perception, vision and medical imaging through national and international collaborations with academic or industrial partners. These resources are used occasionally by other Inria project-teams and by researchers of other French and foreign research laboratories.
The three experimental robotics platforms
- The industrial robotics platform includes two robots: an Afma6 gantry robot with three gripper systems equipped with a camera and an Afma4 cylindrical robot carrying a variable focus camera.
- The mobile robotics platform includes a Cycab vehicle equipped with a front camera mounted on a turret and a laser range-finder.
- The medical robotics platform is made up of two robots: a Hippocrate robot coupled with a Sonosite 2D ultrasound probe and an ADEPT Viper manipulating robot coupled with a 3D Ultrasonix ultrasonograph.
In addition, in order to pool the resources and software developments in relation to this very specific equipment, a scalable software platform has been designed. Called ViSP, it enables the rapid prototyping of monitoring and visual servoing tasks.
