Miguel A. Fernández (Reo) : Cardiac hemodynamics simulations: motivations, models and numerical methods
The cardiac function is a complex multi-physic system whose purpose is to pump oxygenated blood throughout the body. In this talk, we will present an overview of some of the ongoing projects at REO project-team on the modeling and simulation of blood flow within the cardiac cavities. We will first discuss the peculiarities of this phenomenon and the interest of simulations for applications. Then, we will focus on some fundamental aspects related to the simulation of heart valve dynamics (the bottleneck of the system).
