Research support roles:
Research Valorization
-----------------------

English version Version française

Promote INRIA's research activities and provide research teams with economic, social and institutional connections.

Valorisation de la recherche

Carried out in close collaboration with researchers, the development of applications and platforms is an integral part of the Institute’s policy for developing and distributing software. Providing direct support to research, its mission consists of contributing to the development of software together with the research teams, supplying the tools the teams require to carry out their work, and managing the deployment, support and development of experimentally-oriented technological platforms. This role calls for an understanding of innovation, expertise in software development, good organizational skills and an aptitude for managing projects in environments which may involve several teams.

Why join INRIA?

With research activities extending from mathematics to robotics, we work in an extremely promising sector with extremely broad domains of application.

We have a number of partnerships with industry and promote technology transfer as well as enterprise creation in the ICST domain, particularly through our subsidiary INRIA-Transfert. There are already 80 INRIA spin-off companies in the technology sector (Kelkoo, Ilog, etc.).
We need your help to accomplish the following:

- Pursue an ambitious software development and distribution policy by taking a professional, systematic approach to our lab-to-marketplace activities.
- Increase our presence and involvement in international standardisation bodies.

Our model of organisation enables all individuals to express their talents in an intellectually rich environment.

Good things to know... Since 2000, INRIA has been pursuing an ambitious development programme aimed at doubling the Institute's size in 10 years.

What the professionals say

“This is a very dynamic job in which I maintain relationships with researchers, INRIA’s partners and the Institutes’s entire socio-economical environment.

I am in constant contact with science and technology communities, incubators, innovation agencies, local and regional authorities, and other research centers. I follow the progress of major research and development programs, whether they emanate from the European Union, ministries or businesses. I then help research teams determine how they can get involved in these programs and set up collaborations. I have plenty of scope to use my own initiative and am supported by some excellent legal specialists. We provide an effective service to researchers to facilitate the transfer of the results of their research.”

Jean-Loïc, Industrial Relations and Valorization Manager, INRIA Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique
“Our objective is to see that the results of INRIA’s research make an impact on society, over and above their academic impact.

We manage the Institute’s intellectual assets, chief among them software, but also patents, brands and domain names. We seek to ensure that transfer takes place on the best possible terms, in collaboration with researchers and with the industrial relations managers for the various research units. We implement INRIA’s strategy for technology transfer, using a wide range of tools, including licenses for free software. In this role, we deal with the administrative, legal and financial aspects… maintaining a good overview of the technological issues and business procedures.”
