Claude Puech has been appointed as Director of Research on February 1st, 2007.
Doctor of Science, Claude Puech is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris. Now a professor at Université Paris-Sud, he has earned an international reputation for the quality of his work in algorithmics and image synthesis. As from 1986, he headed the iMAGIS team, first at ENS, then in Grenoble. He is a member of the scientific councils of the Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik and France Télécom. In 2004, he received the first Eurographics Distinguished Career Award, in particular for his work supervising young researchers. In 1999, he was appointed scientific advisor in computer science and mathematics to the French Minister of Research, a position he occupied until 2002, when he was asked to set up the INRIA Futurs research unit, which is scheduled to be divided into three new units in Bordeaux, Lille and Saclay on January 1st, 2008.
