Marathon des Sables: at the heart of a scientific adventure
A few days ago, Inria researcher Guillaume Chelius began his race across southern Morocco.
Renowned as the most difficult race in the world, the 25th edition of the Marathon des Sables (‘Sand Marathon’) also provides an opportunity to conduct an unprecedented scientific experiment. Guillaume, who will wear number 266, will be fitted with communicating networked sensors throughout the race. The aim for the members of Inria’s X-trem-log project team, the people behind this experiment, is to test their human movement analysis system in extreme conditions.
