Our main goal was to gather and display the various findings of our research team. So we essentially packed into a single piece of software all these algorithms that TexMex scientists came up with in recent years. Music in 3D
To better separate the different sounds within a recording in order to remix them at will and rebroadcast them in 3D: that is the objective of i3DMusic, a French-Swiss collaboration featuring two SMEs and two research centres. Higher-performing algorithms could lead to the appearance of new applications for music professionals, as Emmanuel Vincent, manager of this research at the Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique centre, explains.

Yliès Falcone : " Partnerships with the industrial world confront our research with problems of society "
Yliès Falcone chose his field of research because he likes the rigorous nature of the methods developed in it and their applications in technologies that impact our everyday lives. He is currently pursuing post-doctoral research at the Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique centre as part of the VERTECS team, which is undoubtedly a springboard for this ambitious young researcher.

Improve sound quality in videoconferences and on the telephone: such is the new challenge set by German national Bernhard Grill, co-inventor of the MP3 format and director of the audio department at the Fraunhofer Institute for integrated circuits. The problem is far from straightforward, as he explained during the multimedia signal conference (MMSP), organised by Inria, at Saint-Malo, in October 2010.

André Seznec: defying the laws of computing
Since 1983, André Seznec has focused his research on the architecture of computers. Improving user interaction with 3D worlds
Anatole Lécuyer, of the BUNRAKU project-team, has recently been awarded the habilitation to advise doctoral theses devoted to interaction with virtual worlds. This is an area where researchers work simultaneously on hardware, software, ergonomics, human perception and applications in real life.
