François Sillion, Director of the Inria Grenoble-Rhône-Alpes research centre
François Sillion was appointed Director of the Inria Grenoble-Rhône-Alpes research centre on 2 May 2007. An alumnus of the École normale de la rue d'Ulm, François Sillion has been a research director at Inria since 1998.
He led the ARTIS project-team and performed the duties of chairman of the projects committee of Inria Rhône-Alpes. A professor at the École polytechnique from 1992 to 2004, his studies primarily focus on synthesised image creation techniques: 3D models, "expressive" rendering, lighting simulation; visualisation of very large volumes of data, and data acquisition from real images. He participates in the editorial committees of the ACM Transactions on Graphics and Computer Graphics Forum journals and the EUROGRAPHICS workshops. A member of the professional associations ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE Computer Society, AFIG, and EUROGRAPHICS, he chairs the rendering work group within EUROGRAPHICS.
