Visiting Committee

Jean-Claude Latombe

A pioneering system in French public research, the visiting committee is an external evaluation committee, completely independent of Inria, made up of individuals, mostly foreign, from the scientific and industrial world.

Its role

A group of high-level international experts (from prestigious international universities or organisations and industry), the visiting committee is responsible for performing a global analysis of the organisation, operation, positioning, and strategy of the Institute. This analysis is then the subject of a report — a fresh, neutral perspective on Inria's research system. The report includes recommendations that have a real influence on the Institute's future.

The most recent report from the visiting committee was provided to the Ministry of Research in February 2009.
