Serge Abiteboul: How can data be protected?
Having graduated from the ENST in 1977, he continued his studies in the USA, obtaining a PhD in computer science from the University of Southern California. In 1982, he joined Inria and obtained a PhD from Paris Sud University. Since 1986, he has been a senior research scientist at Inria.
Serge Abiteboul is also a professor at the Ecole Polytechnique and Stanford. His speciality? Information management: relational databases, web-based information management, etc. In computational logic, he was responsible for significant advances in the fields of complexity theory and finite model theory.
One of his current research topics is web data management, which aims to provide better protection of data on the Web. Winner of the EADS prize in 2007, he became a member of the institute in December 2008. Serge Abiteboul is a member of the scientific council of Technicolor. He is also a fiction writer.
