Collège de France 2011
The new holder of the Information Technology and Digital Sciences Chair at the Collège de France, Martin Abadi, will give his inaugural lecture on March 10th. His talk will be devoted to his specialty, computer security. Researcher at the Microsoft research centre in Silicon Valley, he teaches at the University of California. At the Collège de France, he will be succeeding Gérard Berry, Inria researcher since 2006, who will “pass the baton” to a new pioneer of the recently created chair. They share the same passion, the same joy in transmitting knowledge and the same will to establish the rightful place of this discipline among other traditionally recognised fields of science.

Editorial
"A major and well-know research player in a rich ecosystem of research and innovation clusters"
"Serving the strategic objectives of Inria to advance the digital society, and directed towards scientific excellence and technology transfer, the center of Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique is a major and well-know research player for the digital world.
It is part of a rich ecosystem of research and innovation clusters, centers for higher education and research, laboratories of excellence, a forthcoming IRT (technology research institute), industrial companies and a network of highly innovative SMEs.
It also benefits from strong and long term partnerships with other research actors in Brittany and Pays de Loire: Universities (Rennes 1 and Rennes 2, Nantes), schools (Supélec, ENS Cachan, Ecole des Mines de Nantes .. .) organizations (CNRS, INSERM, Cemagref ...).
Beyond this local presence, our center is heavily involved in programs of the French National Research Agency (ANR), and in European programs (FP7). Its 32 teams have a wide international recognition as evidenced by the four grants awarded to some of our researchers by the European Research Council, and by its role as an associate node in the KIC EIT ICTLabs.
